Interesting facts about strawberries

The red berries have been enjoyed by people since the times of ancient Rome. The garden strawberry which is still grown today was cultivated as early as 1766 by a gardener at the court of Louis XV. They began to be grown in the Czech Republic in the Neveklov region in the 19th century. Strawberries were formerly called the royal fruit or the fruit of love. They are valued mainly for their aroma, colour and juiciness. Strawberries can be eaten raw or cooked, in the form of jams and syrups. They are also often used for cakes or fruit dumplings; they can also be cooked as a compote.

Instructions for use: To prepare home-made drinks, dilute the syrup 1:10 preferably with fine water; for a hot drink, dilute 1:8.

Ingredients: sugar, strawberry puree (Fragaria vesca L., 12%), strawberry concentrate (Fragaria vesca L., 8%), acidity regulator: citric acid, carrot and blackcurrant concentrates, preservative: potassium sorbate, vitamin C, natural flavouring.

Store in a cool and dark place. Fruit extracts may settle, any cloudiness or foaming is not a concern as it highlights the naturalness of the product. Shake well before use. Refrigerate after opening and use within 30 days. Packaged in a protective atmosphere.

Nutritional information: 100ml contains: energy 1411 kJ/332 kcal, fats < 0.5 g (of which saturates < 0.1 g), carbohydrate 83 g (of which sugars 83 g), protein < 0.5 g, salt < 0.01 g, vitamin C 100 mg (125% NRV).

Home-made Strawberry soda

  • Chilled sparkling water
  • Ice

Pour Kitl Strawberry Syrup into a tall glass, add ice and fill up with chilled sparkling water. Garnish with a strawberry and fresh mint.

Strawberry shake

  • Kitl Syrob Strawberry
  • Chilled milk
  • Ice

Blend Kitl Strawberry Syrup with ice cubes and chilled milk. Pour into a large tall glass and serve ideally with a wide straw.

Strawberry Bellini cocktail

  • Kitl Syrob Strawberry
  • Dry sparkling wine
  • Fresh lime juice
  • Ice

Pour Kitl Strawberry Syrup in the bottom of a tall glass with ice, add a few drops of fresh lime juice and pour in chilled dry sparkling wine. Garnish with a fresh strawberry, you can also add a slice of lime.

Strawberry cocktail

  • Vodka
  • Ice

Place crushed ice into a tall glass, pour in one part of quality vodka and one part of Kitl Strawberry Syrup. Add chilled soda. You can garnish with a strawberry and a sprig of mint.
